Unprocessed Plane Challenge

49.4k Graingy  5 days ago

Yes-Yes!

Another batshi- I mean perfectly normal and sane community activity idea from yours truly!
But what, you ask with tears of joy(?), is this most incredible idea of mine?

Well, glad you asked!

You see, the objective of this here challenge is...

...

Where's that drummer monkey?

Whatever, I can do it.

dudududududuudududu....

Build a plane (or other craft) with 100% unprocessed parts!

What is an unprocessed part?
Our working definition is that an unprocessed part is a part which has not been modified functionally in any way, shape, or form after being brought into the editor. Straight out of the part menu, onto the craft, into flight/other unspecified activity.
The attached craft is an example of this. No changes made, not even to the wings.

What is NOT allowed:
-Part modifications (including overload)
-Things that would obviously not be well-received on this website.

What IS allowed:
-Any default part in SimplePlanes
-Paint
-Rotation/nudging of parts (see attached example)

Now once more the text has gotten very small on my 1080p screen and OH GOD THE BEASTS OF BEYOND HAVE RETURNED AND THEY HUNGER FOR THE SOUL I DON'T HAVE SPARE ME BEASTS AND I WILL GRANT YOU THE SPIRITS OF A WORLD UNTOUCHED BY ANY OTHER HEED MY WORD AND YOU WILL FEAST FOR ALL TIME NO MATTER THE SCREAMS OF MEN SO LONG AS YOU SHOULD SPARE ME OH MY OH MY OH MY OH

    Oh. Yeah. Criteria.
Basically just make something cool. Not super strict or anything, whatever I like most wins.
Rewards are in the same vein as the previous challenge.
Assuming this one actually gets participants this time.
Anyhow, I'm gonna give the deadline of... Hm, the 15th of October? May be subject to change, we'll see.
One more thing. As in the previous challenge:

Submissions can be done either through successor posts, or by hyperlinking it in the comments of this post. So long as I can easily access it for judgement.

I consider it cheap to use a challenge to get points via others' work, so as long as I can easily access the submission it'll be considered valid.

@Graingy not even just reversing the rotation of a propeller?

    49.4k Graingy

    @HB200Studio All of them, obviously.
Anything that changes a part. No wing resizing, no weight modifier, no setting cockpits to primary, no fuel in fuselage, etc.
Connections and nudge/rotate are allowed, but that's it.

Sooo does this include the default part modifier or just fine tuner and overload?

@TheRightStuff only if strictly necessary as to ensure compliance, and even then only visual stuff like a mistakenly switched cockpit. Anything that changes how the vehicle performs (e.g. an engine which had its power turned up) is off-limits.
If changing the vehicle’s function is required to make it rules-compliant then it is wholly disqualified and cannot be entered.

@NavalGunnery Ngl I was hoping nobody would ask since I wasn’t sure.
Seeing as it doesn’t impact the part itself, no. No rules.

@Graingy are there any rules about changing connections?

@MizeaO Evidently. There have been some very clever uses of parts so far. Unfortunately none have yet qualified, however :/
@Axartar It is allowed, technically. However, don't make the mistake others did of changing out the cockpit - that is a disqualification! It cannot be done without a menu so is therefore not allowed.

Pull and attach like a monkey do. Sounds simple but very hard to make it nice. So that why it's called challenge.

anyway I'll try making an airship or something idk how it'll work
    .
though I think it'll be shit since I can't use free-spinning rotators, no cap.

@Graingy whims and rambles mostly, with mismatched serious-jest zest energy added to the mix.
    .
I just type whatever was in my mind at the time or atleast anything within that day that I find amusing lol. sometimes it has to do more about the concept though, and usually that's a long enough ramble.

@Axartar I did say that, did I not?
Yes, nudging (including rotation) is allowed. The primary restriction is that parts themselves cannot be modified.

Im assuming moving stuff around and rotating are ok, as long as the part is unmodified?
