The Karnabo is a product of budgetary concerns that rolled two different tenders into one plane: on one side, a commission for a large, twin-engined ground attack aircraft capable of strafing ground troops and carrying out low-level attacks that could replace the Mandagot and. On the other, a new tactical bomber aircraft. The Karnabo was an ambitious attempt at fulfillingboth tenders in one airframe. While criticized for being sub-uptimal, lacking bomb bays and being too large and ponderous to evade ground fire, it was nevertheless picked as it was reasoned that it's superior strafing abilities would enable Karnabos to fend off defensive fire and even hunt down batteries.
The Karnabo's most striking feature, it's pusher engine pods with frontal gunners, are the product of the emphasis on strafing attacks built in the design. With a total of 6 12,7 mm machine guns and a 30 mm cannon, the faults with the Karnabos definitely don't lie in their lack of firepower. While overall regarded as a rather underwhelming aircraft, it's showed itself capable of carrying out both of it's intended attack profiles.
