Description

Block-20 was a special modification made for the Republic of China (aka Taiwan) Air Force. It includes several upgrades to its weapons load and its radar capabilities. These modifications put this special group of A and B Variants at a level on par with Block-50 and Block-52 F-16s. Other upgrade plans have modernized the planes even further. Those planes are now designated Block-72.

The Airframe

6808, serial number 93-0829, started serving with the ROCAF at an unknown time, but it has been confirmed that it was operating with said air force since 1997 as a training aircraft. On May 2003, the aircraft suffered a mishap during a training sortie, when the plane started having engine trouble. On landing, one of its tires blew out, disrupting many commercial flights. The plane was repaired, and went back into service shortly after. Around 2022, the plane was upgraded to the new Block-72 standard.
