Yamato was the lead ship of her class of battleships built for the Royal Neo Navy (RNN) in 1930. She and her sister ship, Musashi, were the heaviest and most powerfully armed battleships ever constructed, displacing nearly 72,000 tonnes (71,000 long tons) at full load and armed with nine 46 cm (18.1 in) Type 94 main guns, which were the largest guns ever mounted on a warship.

History

The Yamato-Class is the first Super Battleship built by the Neo Empire. Built in 1930, the Yamato-Class is an ambitious plan that the Royal Neo Navy wants, the development plan will to 5 ships, but due to the high costs and resources spent, only 3 ships were built, namely Yamato, Musashi, and Shinano.
Yamato and Musashi were finally built into battleships, while Shinano was converted into an Aircraft Carrier

Neo Civil War 1

During the Civil War, the Yamato and its fleet rarely fought, in fact the Yamato was asked to avoid fighting because if the Yamato was damaged it would be expensive to repair.
Until 1954, Yamato and his fleet were asked to carry out the final attack operation carried out by the Empire to fight the Neo Communist Regime. On April 6, 1954 at 5 am, Yamato and 11 other ships departed from the port of Shizukishima towards the Yumemori sea. At 9 am the Yamato fleet was spoted by a reconnaissance aircraft from a Kongo battleship that had been captured by the neo-communist regime. At 10 am the Neo Communists launched an attack against Yamato using 6 aircraft carriers, 8 battleships, 20 destroyers and 5 cruisers.

At 11.40 am the Dive Bomber Squadron from the Akagi aircraft carrier began launching attacks focused on the Yamato's escort ships, in that attack Maya, Isokaze, and Yukikaze suffered serious damage and were forced to return to Shizukishima, 15 minutes later the Torpedo Squadron from the carriers Hiryu and Shokaku launched an attack which focused on the Yamato, of the 15 torpedoes launched, 5 torpedoes hit the rear of the Yamato which ended up damaging its Rudder, 2 Torpedoes hit the Destroyer Shigure, 4 Torpedoes hit the Soryu aircraft carrier which also damaged its rudder and ended up stranded on the coast, while 4 other torpedoes missed

At 2 pm the surviving ships finally withdrew, while the Yamato, which had damage to its rudder, could not return and became the only remaining target, 30 minutes later the Kongo-class Battleship, Nagato-class Battleship, and Ise-Class Battleship began firing continuously which damaged Yamato's first turret, followed by dive bomber attacks from the aircraft carriers Kaga, Taiho, and Zuikaku which caused Yamato to suffer heavy damage

At 4 pm the Yamato Crew tried to scuttle the Yamato so that it would not be captured by the Neo Communists, but these efforts failed and finally the Yamato was successfully captured and repaired in 1959 at Yumemori Island ShipyardsThe Yamato-class was finally retired in 1975 and stored at the Hanako Naval Arsenal

After the 7 October Tragedy

Just like the Takao-class cruisers and Oyodo-class light cruisers, the Yamato-class battleships returned to service after the October 7 tragedy and began retrofitting at the end of 2020, after completing the retrofit in 2022, Yamato was re-entered into the 11th Combined Fleet together with his old friends, Shigure, Yukikaze, Hamakaze, Isokaze, Yaguma, Asaguma, Soryuu, Ryujo, Hosho, Maya, and Mogami
