The J-8 II fighter jet is an improved high-altitude high-speed fighter jet developed by Shenyang Aircraft Industry Company in China. On June 12, 1984, the J-8 II prototype successfully made its maiden flight. On March 18, 1988, the design of the aircraft was finalized. On October 15 of the same year, the Military Products Qualification Committee officially approved the design of the J-8 II aircraft.
The J-8IID aircraft is an improved design based on the J-8II, which has the function of receiving fuel in the air.
