This battleship is a modernized and refurbished version of Hida class Battleship 1919 and Hida class Battleship 1944.

This battleship was planned in 1916 by the Japanese Navy, which felt the limitations of the Kongo, Fuso, and Ise class ships with 14-inch guns. She was completed in 1919 and given the name "Hida", and became the only ship in Japan with 15-inch guns.
IJN Hida underwent modernization for the first time in 1926 and for the second time in 1936. Also in 1944, it was equipped with a Type 2-1 radar and a Type 2-2 radar, and assumed this configuration.
On the other hand, IJN Suruga, like IJN Ise and IJN Hyuga, had turret No. 4 moved just behind the mast to give the old battleship air power, and a working deck and catapult were installed in the space created by the removal of turrets No. 3 and 5 to make it an air battleship.
Originally, all three Hida class ships were scheduled to be converted to aircraft battleships, but the IJN Kai was sunk before they could be converted, and the IJN Hida was never converted because the Imperial Japanese Navy lost four aircraft carriers in the Battle of Midway and focused on mass production of the Unryu class aircraft carriers.
