About Italian Airlines:Italian Airlines was commenced operations on 1978,the first fleet was dc-9 registered as : I-QIFJ. The airline was competing to Alitalia and ITA Airways,the main italy airline. Also Italian Airlines was a major customer of McDonnell douglas MD-87 Beneath the Iberia,the airline ceased operations on 2008,and relaunch in 2021 with a fleet of a320.
About McDonnell douglas MD-87:In January 1985, McDonnell Douglas announced it would produce a shorter-fuselage MD-80 variant, designated MD-87 (DC-9-87), which would seat between 109 and 130 passengers depending upon configuration. The designation was intended to indicate its planned date of entry into service, 1987.
About Italian Airlines flight 1938:16 March 1990,a Italian Airlines MD-87 in a flight from Rome to Cagliari. The aircraft was McDonnell douglas MD-87,the underrated aircraft,the registered is I-KADJ,when the aircraft in Palermo it was collided with mushroom airways 747-200 which is the flight was Mushroom kingdom to Rome because of Mar10 day. The left wing completely fire and diverted to Palermo and landed safely luckily everyone survived,but the aircraft is not,but it refixed again in 1992 and grounded in Palermo for 2 years.
