Quinotaur

The Quinotaur is the SFR's main heavy transport aircraft. Designed from the outset as a hybrid that could carry bombs under or inside the fuselage, this mixture of archaic and modern features has a ramp which can be opened and closed with VTOL. It's a dependable aircraft, used where true infrastructure hasn't been rebuilt, but after the helicopter corps has set up landing strips. It's reliability, carrying capacity and short takeoff run all conspire to make this a great disaster response airplane.

One of the longest-lived aircraft in the new Armée de'l Air inventory, the Quinotaur was developed after a major war fought by the young Republic that led to it's rapid expansion across most of former France. At this point, much of the Republic's new lands had fallen into lawlessness, and were infested with bandits because the Republic allied itself with the Iberian Confederation, which supplied an insurgency behind enemy lines with both captured and cheaply made arms. This, however, had the outcome of causing several notable settlements to align themselves with the CIR in spite of Republican claims, which has since been a thorn in the diplomacy between both sides.
