[SU1946] Tupolev Tu-12Z (PRC)

SU1946 stands for Simple Universe 1946, it is a series of late-WWII (or prototypes) planes plus some fiction. Planes in this series would have significantly better performance than their historical counterpart, and would receive a "Z" in their names to distinguish them from other, more accurate replicas.

This is the Simple Universe version of the Tupolev Tu-12 jet bomber prototype. In our story, after the Nationalists' Me 262 Z HGIII dominated the aerial battle, the Chinese Communists and the Soviet Union both agreed that the best way to counter the advantage of the HGIII is to not let them take off at all. For this reason, they designed a series of attack aircrafts and bombers to destroy Nationalist airbases and other strategic targets. The I-215DZ was in charge of the attacker role, while the four-engined Myasishchev RB-17 was supposed to take the bomber role. However, with the limited number of captured Jumo 004 engines (and the fact that each RB-17 requires 4 of those), the Soviets turned to the Tu-12 project which uses the more abundant RB.41 Nene turbojets purchased from the British for "civilian use only", as well as the reverse-engineered RD-45/VK-1 engines. Although the Tu-12Z is not nearly as agile or fast as the I-215DZ, they fared well by using terrain cover to sneak through Nationalist detection and launch surprise attacks, or simply follow a squadron of I-215DZs and Su-9 TsPGOs to wreck havoc when the Nationalists' fighters are distracted.

Armaments:
1x 23mm NS-23 autocannon on right side nose (80 damage, 9 rounds per second, 690 m/s muzzle velocity)
2x 20mm B-20 autocannons on top and bottom turrets, each cover 180 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically
Provisions for 8x boom 25 or 2x boom 50-class bombs in internal bomb bay
4 hardpoints for bombs and air-to-ground missiles

Activation groups:
AG1: Bomb bay door (default is OPEN to make it easier for you to configure bomb load in designer)
AG2: Jettison outboard loads (make sure you do this with bomb bay doors closed)
AG3-5: Free for other assignments
AG6: Top turret activation
AG7: Bottom turret activation
AG8: Nose gun de-activation (default is activated as AG8 is defaulted at on)

Trim: Horizontal traverse for turrets
VTOL: Vertical traverse for turrets

Camera 1(F5): Bomber's sight (can be adjusted)
Camera 2(F6): Top turret camera (rotates with the gun)
Camera 3(F7): Bottom turret camera (rotates with the gun)

The internal Boom 25s are set to drop at 0.2 seconds separation, however, it could still get stuck in the bomb bay if you are at high speed and/or experiencing minus G. Make sure your bombs are dropped when you're pulling up to ensure accurate dropping.

I know I promised to make a RB-17 but I found it to be more complicated (as in making the bomb bay doors, though the Tu-12 turned out to be just as difficult).
Still, I tried to replicate the "armor layer" concept that proved to be useful on the I-215DZ, all fuel are carried in less-exposed compartments to reduce risk of catching fire.
