Auto Credit Based on qazedctgnujm's Windtech 75KW
In theory, the composite bearingless rotor seemed too good to be true: a wind turbine rotor that would allow the blades to change pitch without hub bearings. And the wind turbine could passively harness aerodynamic forces to steer the rotor downwind of the tower. It was extremely simple and cheap to build. All the problems that could arise from seemingly lower turbine costs. Ultimately, during the "California Wind Boom" of the early to mid-1980s, nearly 300 wind turbines using this concept were completely abandoned in California in 1985 by the early 1990s.
