@landspeedcreator, @Wpieter has the right of it. Apple loves to be proprietary, so they lock the doors. (If it doesn't come from the Apple App Store, you don't get it.) At least, that is the thought. Have you ever heard of "jail breaking" an Apple device? It voids the warranty on the device, but allows them to load other apps. (Provided the apps are written for an Apple device (they have a different architecture.))
