The MiG-21VY is a supersonic fighter rarely used by the soviet union during the war of attrition in 1970, it was developed to Improve the already existing MiG-21s, they eventually ended up creating a newer fuselage and making it bigger, due to its bigger design it became slightly heavier but also adds additional hardpoint and and almost had the same aspects of its previous variants, The aircraft's present to the west was highly unknown, until in June 30 1970 were a dogfight occurred between soviet and israeli aircrafts, one israeli pilot noticed that one of the soviet fighters is larger than any of them, once the soviets began to retreat their MiGs, 2 israeli pilots spotted the MiG-21VY and shot it down, the 2 pilots recalled that the soviet aircraft is a little off from the rest of them. In the end this fighter was never produced, however in 1997 Romanians managed to find a 2nd prototype in storage, and was repaired and modernized and re-entered service in 2016, there were rumors that it was being mass produced.
