Hello everyone
For today I made a Tu-16-Badger (AURI) for the challenge 77th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. For the Tu-16 (AURI) this is a modern version, similar to the H-6 of the Chinese Air Force And this plane is to celebrate Indonesia's 77th independence day, but I was late in uploading it :v

about the Tu-16-Badger

The Tupolev Tu-16 (NATO reporting name: Badger) was a twin-engine jet bomber developed and used by the Soviet Air Force for 50 years.

Designed to be versatile, the Tu-16 was produced in various variants for spying, maritime patrol, electronic intelligence gathering and electronic warfare. A total of 1507 aircraft were built at three aircraft factories in the Soviet Union between 1954 and 1962. The civilian variant, the Tu-104 Camel, served as a passenger aircraft for the Soviet airline Aeroflot.

The Tu-16 aircraft were exported to Egypt, Indonesia and Iraq. This Russian strategy aircraft continued to be used by the air force and navy of the Soviet Union (then) until 1993.

history of operating in Indonesia

In 1960, Salatun went to Moscow with a delegation to purchase weapons led by General AH Nasution. Until his arrival, the delegation did not know whether the Tu-16 was included in the list of Soviet-approved armaments. BK orders only, look for weapons. What happened. The Tu-16 was included in the list of weapons offered by the Soviet Union. How surprised the delegation.

"Because we gave the Tu-16 to Indonesia, we will also give this aircraft to other friendly countries," said Foreign Minister Mikoyan. From that second, Indonesia became the fourth country in the world to operate strategic bombers besides America, Britain and Russia themselves. Amazingly, the Air Force once proposed to paint the underside of the Tu-16 with Anti Radiation Paint, a special anti-radiation paint for nuclear-capable bombers.

These 25 bombers, the Tu-16KS-1 variant, were acquired by the Indonesian Air Force ( TNI-AU's name at that time) in 1961. These planes were used to prepare for Operation Trikora in 1962 to retake West Irian from the Dutch . All of these planes were planned to attack Hr. Ms. Karel Doorman , a Dutch Navy aircraft carrier that was sailing near West Irian , was using the AS-1 Kennel anti-ship missile .

14 Tu-16 units are part of Squadron 41 and the rest are in Squadron 42. Both squadrons are headquartered at the Air Force Base Iswahyudi , in Madiun , East Java . All Tu-16 units were decommissioned in 1969 and left the Air Force fleet in 1970.
