First time it worked during testing. Time to improve the magazine feed and handling so it doesn't jam.

Explodes 70% of the time. Retry till you get that one session where it works.

FireGuns to operate. Make sure to press down long enough or keep pressing to let the system cycle.

Test:
Hello all, this is Snow back. As I’ve been teasing you guys, this is a new, innovative and in my opinion, revolutionary method of creating firearms and artillery type weapons.

Today I bring you guys the cumulative product of my experiment with the impactForce attribute on the guns available in SimplePlanes. When initially experimenting with this idea I started out to make an artillery piece, but with the ways the build it went to become the most realistic firearm I ever made.

Remember that post about an year and a half I made, the “Working Bolt Action Rifle”? I said that that was the most realistic gun in all of SimplePlanes back then, but now I’ll have to retract my previous statement. Although that mechanism isn’t outdated or anything, it just isn’t to the level of realism I like to achieve in my builds.

Using the impactForce attribute I was able to replicate a gas-piston type of reloading mechanism found on the well-known AK-47. Technically speaking, this rifle houses a long-stroke piston type mechanism.

With this new mechanism, it technically is possible to create a full-auto firearm with actual projectiles, but due to many issues I’ve decided that a semi-automatic will come before that.

All in all, this was the build I ground my soul into for the first time. I went through countless modifications of the initial design, eventually reaching 180 parts from 108 of version 1.

Many thanks to the people involved in beta testing of the build: EliteArsenals24, randomusername, Aeromen, BlueCitrus, jamesPLANESii, OrangeBoardEnterprise, IzzyIA, and last but not least, Mmdben, who is an absolute champ who sat through 150 continued retries to give me critical data.

His findings:
Out of 150 tries, only 3.3% (5 sessions) resulted in failures. Jams do not occur, the gun works flawlessly.

He also adds:
- Works perfectly in slow motion, doesn't randomly explode like other cannons.
- Can easily snipe the bridge from Bandit Airport.
- I used a car to aim it at the USS tiny, the gun is very accurate at long range. Well done on the aiming sight.

On to the build content.

Main features & Mechanism

  • A completely realistic semi-automatic rifle, with a detachable magazine containing four rounds total. When fired, the bolt moves back, letting the next round in the magazine load into the chamber. The bolt then pushes forward, loading the round into the breech, and is then prepared for a shot. All projectiles are B25’s and will fire somewhat accurately, albeit this rifle isn’t the sharpest shooting gun I’ve made.

Details

  • Bolt pulling back & Smoke from the shot

  • The magazine feeding system (bolt pullback visible)

  • Muzzle Flash

@EliteArsenals24 Thanks for the help. Yeah, I think that using some other projectile than bombs might work better, especially if I want to manipulate friction maybe.

@SnoWFLakE0s just tested it and it works well at first try. Fired all bullets with ease but started to jam the second try. Maybe add a spring mechanism using pistons to push down the bullets if gravity isn't enough. Also try to make the bombs in a shape of a real bullet maybe the shape will ease the feeding system. I'll try to test it out more to figure out how to fix it.

    @EliteArsenals24

Any ideas how to fix the feeding system? I currently am trying to optimize it, but I'd like the opinion of a person who knows the game mechanics well.
