The XVAC-866, being named the Flying Fish, was the most capable and reliable aircraft of its time. It was easy to fly, with simple pitch, roll, and yaw controls. It had a parachute system with a rotating nozzle to keep the aircraft upright. It was also an amphibious aircraft, meaning it could takeoff and land anywhere. The VDB thought this would be too underpowered due to its short wingspan, but adding a bit of weight to the front made it fly perfectly. It was very manouverable and was soon made into a spy and a dogfighter version. The XVAC-866 was underestimated by most people, but it soon became a jet age sucess.
