Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 Continental Connection

United Express version

Starting in 1986, Continental Airlines began contracting a number of independently owned carriers to operate commuter and regional feeder airline services, connecting smaller destinations to Continental's main hubs. Unlike other airlines, which unite contract and feeder flights under one brand name, Continental chose a different approach.

The airline established Continental Express, which consisted of mostly jets*, and Continental Connection, with an all-turboprop fleet. At the time of Continental Airlines' merger with United, Chautauqua Airlines and ExpressJet operated Continental Express flights, while Cape Air, Colgan Air, CommutAir, and Silver Airways operated Continental Connection flights.

* "Mostly" is the keyword here, as confusingly, flights conducted with turboprop aircraft such as the ATR 42, ATR 72, and EMB 120 to and from Houston Intercontinental Airport were also marketed under the Continental Express name.

N365PH, in particular, was a Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 (DHC-8-200Q) operated by CommutAir. Initially delivered in 1998 to Horizon Air, part of Alaska Air Group, she was named "The Great City of Pocatello" before switching hands a decade later. She would fly for CommutAir under the Continental Connection brand, and later, United Express, before being retired in 2017 along with the rest of United Express' Dash 8 fleet.

Credit goes to MAPA for the excellent blank Dash 8 Q200 (Auto-credit is broken for some reason).
