Description:
The Giganotosaurus Carolinii was a giant theropod dinosaur non-avian that lived in the Late Cretaceous in the early Cenomanian 99.6 to 95 million years ago. It's name means "giant southern lizard", the specific name honors the discoverer,
Rubén Carolini (Rest in peace, 4/29/1944 - 9/9/2023), it was the largets Carcharodontosaurid that lived on Earth, despite it's head size, Giganotoasurus had a weak bite force compared to it's size, around 1.5 - 2 tons of force, instead of a powerful bite force, it's teeth could cut through flesh to bleed its prey, the carcharodontosaurids name means "shark-toothed lizards" for a reason.

Evolution:
The Carcharodontosaurids ancestors were the Allosaurids who lived in the late Jurassic such as Allosaurus and Saurophaganax.

Interesting/Fun Facts:
- It's not that big like is shown in inaccurate dinosaur games and movies.
- Despite it's large size, it is estimated to have reached speeds of up to 50 km/h.
- Giganotosaurus Carolinii and Tyrannosaurus Rex have the same height and length, but the Giga was smaller due it weighs 1-2 tons less than T.Rex.
- Giganotosaurus looks bigger from the sides, but from the front or top, it looks thin or smaller (Just like Spinoasurus).
- It's top jaw function was to capture & sustain the prey, and the lower jaw function was to make deep cuts with the teeth.
- Giganotosaurus didn't have a binocular vision like T.Rex, instead of that, it depended more on his sense of smell than on the vision
- Giganotosaurus and Argentinosaurus didn't live at the same time, instead of Argentinosaurus, it was Andesaurus

If you want to get technical, the largest carnivorous dinosaur by body mass is Tyrannosaurus Rex, but the largest by size is Spinosaurus.
