After the near impeccable success of the XAMV-1 in 2003, Xtecs want to re-collaborate almost seven years later to make a sequel, the XAMV-2. NIFE originally refused, arguing that the need for SAM launchers was diminishing, due to the use of more advanced air to air and air to ground missiles.

Also, NIFE were busy with the ammunition supplies for the SFC-32, not being able to keep up with demand causing the SFC-32 to be retired off the shelves early.
In August 2011, 8 years and 9 months after the XAMV-1 was launched, deaths of said vehicle started to rise, due to inefficient heat management & high use of low quality material to keep up with demand, causing it to show up much easier and earlier on newer radars.

In 2014, NIFE & Xtecs officially launched the XAMV-2.
