The Mandagot is one of the SFR's oldest and cheapest warplanes in active service. It was designed after a past war's lessons proved the importance of air support of ground troops. For the sake of this hazarduous task, this aircraft puts redundancy above all other factors, resulting in a nimble yet resilient aircraft. It's armed with 4 20 mm cannons in the lower wing pods, and 2 rifle-caliber machine guns in the nose. One noteworthy design parameter is the intensive use of explosive bolts in the aircraft, which enable the landing gear, wings, tails, and rear propeller to be detached.
In spite of being an old aircraft, it's low maintenance costs, high firepower and it's use of second-rate engines allow the Mandagot to remain in service. While past clashes with Iberian forces have shown that it's highly vulnerable to enemy aircraft, it has one of the lowest pilot death rates of any push-pull twin. Famously, it's ability to give up everything for the sake of it's pilot's life has been praised on both sides, and indeed the manufacturer's sales pitch even includes statements by Iberian pilots on the matter!
