ABOUT THIS PLANE:
At last! My Original First-Generation Fighter, born from a Photoshop edit of an A-10 Thunderbolt I saw on Reddit.
The aircraft is not a full-scale A-10, because I want it to be about as large as other first-gen fighter jets. With that said, it still features the unique designs of the A-10, such as its wing, albeit it doesn’t have the wing airbrakes, its exposed wing-mounted landing gears, its unique engine layout, and its front fuselage. It doesn’t have the GAU-8 for its guns, as this jet is from the 1950s, and the closest ones to Gatling cannons at that time were the 20mm M39 revolver cannons, and I installed two to compensate for the power of the GAU-8. It also uses the same engine as the F-94 Starfire, so I based some of the Starfire’s performance on this plane, such as its max speed, max range, and service ceiling. Its internal fuel capacity of 540 gal. is a little bit higher than other first-gen fighters, but it's not so high to be unrealistic. Also, even though this plane supports modern weapons, I still didn’t install countermeasures and refuelling capability to fully embrace the technological limits of the first generation of fighters.
AIRCRAFT DESCRIPTION:
An early first-generation fighter jet with a straight wing layout designed to carry a large amount of weaponry for bombing and interception missions. Powered by two powerful turbojets and with its unique engine layout, it is agile in air combat and an absolute beast in bombing missions while still being a relatively light and small aircraft. It is also one of the first fighter jets to use an M39 Revolver Cannon, and it uses two M39s located under the nose. The N-Model has been modified with radar and improved avionics to support the use of modern guided weapons and the use of countermeasures. Its nickname is “Thunderboar”.
