Part of an upcoming project
The OLP-1 "Obereg" (Nato reporting name "Evil Eye") is an experimental directed energy weapon developed by the soviet air force as a tool for protecting bomber fleets against missiles and fighter squads. It uses a high-energy pulsed laser to destroy small targets and disrupt optical sensors.
How to use
Press AG1 to launch, wait a few seconds before it becomes stable. Select a target and press FireGuns (Space on PC). Enjoy
How does it work?
The main catch is that the targeting system does not rely on TargetHeading and TargetElevation variables, allowing this thing to be mounted on existing aircraft without re-assigning the main cockpit part.
To aim, it calculated the absolute xyz coordinates of the enemy (via the main cockpit and some trigonometry), and uses them to calculate heading and elevation relative to the OLP-1. Since the bullets don't actually travel at the speed of light, it also calculates the necessary lead.
To stabilise pitch and roll, a parachute is used. Yaw is stabilised by small engines
Free to use. This is overpowered to show that it works, you can just adjust the gun damage for your needs
