Its pretty hard to take off and land but abit of practice will help. Take off: VTOL slider up, throttle to 50% and landing gear. When you are around 70m from the ground slowly slide the VTOL slider to the middle and at the same time throttle up to 100%. Landing: VTOL slider up, throttle to 35% and landing gear.
