Background:
The R-0.2B was made to replace the aging R-0.15. Prototype production started in February of 1940 and finished in June. The 3 prototypes consisted of a fighter, dive bomber, and naval fighter. The fighter proved the most worthy of a contract so the military signed for 500 A models to be made. The main problem with the A models was the large wings and slow speed. This made them easily targetable and easy to shoot down. After a few trials to make it more agile they came out with the F model in January 1941. This variant was very agile and fast at the time so 1,000 of them were made. The R-0.2 saw very little action but did do well at the beginning of the war.
