TK-3A
Pattana TK-3 or Medium Tank TK-3 is a Thai-designed 34-ton Family of Medium tank from and During WW2, it was firstly introduced as Heavy tank until 1942 Re-Categorization, though the build seem very modern of its time, it is still pretty flaw and Barely competences compared to M4 Sherman, or T-34-85, being cheap to produce and have Average armor to protect against Japanese Anti Tank gun. TK-3 was a tank designed to provide supportive fire and Tank knock-out capability with multiple squad of Light Tank TK-2.
The TK-3 was the mainstay of the Royal Thai Army, even though in modern day it was reused as a Training Vehicle, some country still upgrades and Modify the TK-3 with guns and better engine. Although fit with Stabilizer, it was rather remained unused until the end of WW2 by the Tank crew due to Difficulty in Maintaining and Repairing, often broken on the field, or straight up not stabilizing the gun even at low speed.
TK-3 was a Adaptive Medium tank, but it doesn’t stay long in service like the T-34 or M4 due to Complications in design itself, however, as there is some Variant over the course of WW2, it was proven to be much less of a cause, as the real reason is that After the war end Thailand sees Light and Medium tank as Obsolete, and aimed for a Casemate program, namely the TTdTE-1956, right after the Korean war have ended, but TK-3 was also an Import model for most of the SEA country, due to how it is cheaper and more affordable compared to the US Tank, being locally produced in SEA, the import cost is cut to perfection for most of the newly independent countries. And the Design, though Complicated, is also capable for modernization and modification without a thought, though the process was hard on some Occasion, like TK-3M fit with 120mm and a whole new turret fit on a TK-3N hull. The tank was also available in very good number, as the Design was also capable of Mass Production despite being complicated, the system and interior was later simplified after Korean war.
The main armament, namely the 85mm M4TK3 is made for Two purpose, and even better that it have APDS, during the war, it was as feared as the TK-2 Light tank, and almost all of the tank were used by Imperial Japanese, but instead of using it to defend the Japanese Occupied territories from the United states, they choose to use it on a Chinese and British Indian front, not only due to fierce resistances, but deploying such a not so Versatile Medium tanks on island, is never a good choices, as the TK-3G(current one) have a Really long hull, until 1942 where the Variant was designed by the Institute of Armor, which is the A variant with one less road wheel pair, and a shorter hull and less power engine, and a Modified B variant hull, similar to M4A3, it was unstabilized and fit with 105mm M5TK3 tank fitted howitzer.
During the Free-Thai movement in 1943, TK-3 and other Tank destroyers were seen usage in the Liberation of Bangkok, because of their underground thieves and rebellious factory not aligning to the Japanese Empire secretly supplying the Tank to the Rebel, being able to Free and reoccupy their Capital, it was also met with itself, during the Engagement of Dusit and Bang Rak, a Group of TK-3A, VT-1D and TK-1 engaged around 8 TK-3G, suffered in loss but also have knocked out all 8 TK-3G. Losing around 9 TK-1 Light tank destroyer, and only 1 TK-3A, and 1 VT-1D. The squadron then later terrorized the Japanese occupiers before they can do anything, bringing back the exiled government and led to Exile of Pleak Phibunsongkhram, replacing the new prime minster with Sarit Thanarat, a much early to the coup that is gonna happen in our timeline.
