简介 Introduction

Tank No. 215 is a Soviet T-34-85 medium tank used by the Chinese People's Volunteer Army during the Korean War (War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid N.Korea). It belonged to the 2nd Platoon, 2nd Company, 4th Independent Tank Regiment and was crewed by five personnel. The tank had a combat weight of 32 tons, equipped with an 85mm gun and two 7.62mm machine guns. The tank’s hull was 5.4 meters long, 3 meters wide, and 2.74 meters high, with a top speed of 55 km/h and a maximum range of 306 km. The gun barrel was marked with six red five-pointed stars, symbolizing the destruction of six enemy tanks. The tank is now displayed in the Military Museum of the Chinese People's Revolution.

During the summer in 1953 Major Counteroffensive of the Chinese Volunteer Army, Tank No. 215 was engaged in combat during the Battle of Pork Chop Mountain. It fell into a shell crater but continued to fight after being camouflaged, destroying five United States Army M46 tanks and damaging one, destroying 26 bunkers, nine mortars, one tunnel, and one command post. Commander Yang Aru led the crew in seven coordinated infantry-tank operations, setting a record for a single tank operation in the Chinese army. After the war in china, the Volunteer Army headquarters awarded it the title of "People's Hero Tank," and the entire crew received collective first-class merit. Yang Aru was named a "Second-Level Combat Hero," while driver Chen Wenkui and loader Shi Fengshan received second-class merit. The tank’s story was adapted into the film "Hero Tanker," and its company was awarded the title of "Model Military Training Company."

1953年夏季反击战役期间，215号坦克在石岘洞北山战役中执行作战任务时陷入弹坑，经伪装后仍持续作战，累计击毁敌M46坦克5辆、击伤1辆，摧毁地堡26个、迫击炮9门、坑道和指挥所各1个。车长杨阿如指挥乘员完成七次协同步兵作战，创造我军装甲兵单车作战纪录。战后志愿军总部授予其“人民英雄坦克”称号，全体乘员记集体特等功，杨阿如获“二级战斗英雄”称号，驾驶员陈文奎、装填手师凤山记二等功。该坦克事迹被改编为电影《英雄坦克手》，其所在连队被授予“军事训练模范连”荣誉称号。
