Camera Plane

5,257 TRD  2.0 years ago

It's a camera plane. Grab it by the detacher, save as subassembly, attach on the plane you wanna make a great shot on, select everything on the camera plane and scale H, W, L to 0.0001 (optional), make amazing shots like these.

"What color's the sky up there?"

In case you're asking, yes. It is recorded on mobile.

The detacher and gyro of this plane is AG5 by default. Change it to whatever you like.

DO NOT adjust the detach force. The entire thing is massless, a detach force higher than 0 percent will send the camera plane to heaven.

Maybe the instant deceleration problem can be solved by not making it massless? I don't know.

Edit: Figured that was the case. GuyFolk did point it out.
I updated the camera plane with the fuselage block having mass; now you can really fly by along with it.

So the other day, GuyFolk told me how he'd got his stunt GIFs for his X-02SN post. He told me he flybys alongside a detached camera with wings and a gyro, and makes all those stunts. So I thought about it for a good moment and then, I made this.

Known issues:

—Camera plane slows down immediately after detaching (regardless of speed, though I haven't tested above 600kmh) and just glides freely, so you can't make flybys alongside it. I do not know how to fix this.
—Not putting the camera plane on the center of the plane ruins pitch control. I can't fix that.
—Pitching up with the camera plane on low physics puts the camera plane's wings on steroids
—Flying supersonic with the camera plane on low physics destroys the camera plane (and possibly the plane you wanted to make shots with).

Best used with Reshade I guess (though I haven't tested it)

No credit needed. Appreciated if you do though.

It probably is obvious, but of course it's free to use.

@IceCraftGaming It's bad. I make better photography now, the camera plane is useless for me.

@GuyFolk I got the thing updated. Cinematics are now better with that fix!

    Nice reverse engineering btw.
Just missing a little bit of physics really.

Try using mass scale 1 and drag scale 0 instead so the camera won't slow down and fly formation with it will be easier. (Newton saids that mass keep things that's in motion, in motion, so mass is a must have. And things in motion won't stop until they meet an opposite force so drag is a no no.)
Also, using smaller wing will not affect the host plane's CoL that much.

@Henobro262830 It's just a barely flyable plane. Not all that amazing, but thank you for the kind words.
