Dornier Do 29

34.0k AgDynamics  8.2 years ago

The Dornier Do 29 was an experimental aircraft developed in the 1950s, used to test a tilting-propeller system for short takeoff and landing aircraft.

VTOL down to rotate engines. The sweet spot is somewhere between the bottom two notches, which gives near-vertical takeoff capability. It's flyable (if a little tricky) down to an airspeed of about 25mph. Top speed 250-ish.

I made something inspired by the Do-29 a few weeks ago that can get all the way down to 15 mph and maintain stable flight
