Contralto

The Contralto is one of the main fighters fielded by the Padanian Republic, a client state of the Blessed Germanic Empire that consists of what remains of the Legion for the Reunification of Italy, and which serves as their bulwark against the Tyrrhenian Confederation. The reason why the LRI had managed to hold on to the North was that, having formed in the Po Valley region, they were most consolidated there.

Like other Padanian aircraft, the Contralto is a three-surface aircraft, a configuration selected for climbing performance similarly to their old preference for triplanes. It's armed with 4 20 mm cannons, and in many ways can be seen as a rival of the Aquilone, as the repeated clashes among both polities show. However, there's still a few differences: Where the Aquilone is an interceptor, the Contralto is more rounded, with a higher endurance.
It's main drawback, however, is the cost: Contraltos are manpower-intensive to build, and they're only deployed with a few squadrons, the rest equipped with Katzbalgers. On top of this, Contraltos, like most pushers, are less capable of using poor runways, so they're usually fielded in the interior.
