In 2019 Indonesia asked PT.Pal to build a heavy corvette to strengthen maritime resilience in Indonesia, then in 2020 PT.Pal gave the ship design to Government of Indonesia, government of Indonesia approved the ship design and first steel cutting in 2020, first ship completed in 2022 and undergoing testing At sea and officially got the name KRI Batavia which was taken from the city of Jakarta during the colonial period by the Dutch
