DGR 'Jumper' STOL Airliner

18.5k LonelyAustrianUhlan  2.0 years ago

The DGR 'Jumper':

The Jumper was a STOL small regional turbo-prop developed by DGR for the short range island hopping market, It was could carry up to 9 passengers and had a fairly large and comfortable cabin for a plane that size and had fairly efficient engines as well as superb STOL performance. The Jumper also got some publicity from the short lived 'tiny line' charter operation for the crew of the USS Tiny, where the Jumper became famous by being able to safely land on the small deck of the Tiny.
The Jumper sold fairly well for many small airlines and charter operations, many still fly to this day with the many island travel companies

Controls:

Ag1- Right Engine
Ag2- Left Engine
VTOL - Flaps
Trim - Trim
Brake- Air Brakes (careful, they are fairly strong)

    @DeveloperKorzalerke I see, I hope moving them a little forwards would help in future planes, however when it comes to Non-VR the buttons are meant to be more of decoration because at least in my experience people (including me) tend to use Ag's without really thinking about it.

    @LonelyAustrianUhlan I don't own vr so i don't know how it works on that, but on the normal game i could only press the engine buttons when the throttle was set to 50% or less.

    @DeveloperKorzalerke Regarding your second point:
    Having now tested this in VR, I can say that it my be hard for me to deal with the engine on / off buttons, unless you weren't talking about VR, when flying this plane in VR, I could if not easily, but without problem press them even with throttle at full, in newer planes, I did move the buttons forward however imp not sure if it will help, and I cant really check since I didn't have a problem in the first place.

    @DeveloperKorzalerke Thank you,
    As for the recommendations/observations
    1-I’ll try to remember to do so, I mostly forget because I remember the instructions of my own planes when flying in VR.

    2-This is something I believe to have already improved in some of my newer planes, however because I don’t upload them in order some are older ones and I forgot to implement changes in them.

    3-Will try to remember to that with future planes.

    4-might experiment with this sometime however for now I’ll have to stay with these worse looking wings.

    @LonelyAustrianUhlan Cool plane! Here are some observations though:

    • You should always add flight instructions to your planes so the vr users don't have to leave the game to check the controls.
    • The position of the engine on / off buttons makes it hard to press them when you increase the throttle, you should probably make sure that doesn't happen on future planes.
    • For decorative buttons / switches, you should add a tooltip with something like "N/A" to let players know they're not meant to do anything.
    • Custom wings are pretty cool, but they look really weird without any control surfaces, i'd recommend you try this method for the wings.

    Hope this helps!
