A further (further) development of the original, the Aphid II C was a 3rd generation jet fighter that was still aimed toward the cost effective light multi-role market for smaller forces. It received more powerful engines, more hardpoints, a radar capable of guiding semi active radar guided AAMs, an increased wingspan and leading edge extensions among the upgrades. Although not used on the initial models, it was capable of using medium range AAMs and had superior performance over its predecessors. Variants of the C are seeing continued use to this day, albeit with upgrades, as Aggressor aircraft or by less wealthy military forces. The film "Slop Gun" incorrectly used these to imitate the scenario where the Aphid II As were used by insurgents, although the quality of life and preference of pilots may be why these were in the film instead.
