The Seal is the lightest of the three major commercial flying boats operated by the Neo-Hanseatic League. This faction is composed of the remains of pre-Crumbling cultural associations among historic members of it's namesake, who revived these ties to cope with the Crumbling-era hardships, having since formed into a confederation of cities spanning from the British Islands to the Baltic Sea, including prominent urbanizations along the northern coast of the Blessed Germanic Empire.
Spanning even beyond the North Sea itself, the neo-Hansa is mostly a trade organization that has operations all over Europe, often serving as intermediary between hostile powers. The neo-Hansa's success is partly motivated by their use of flying boats for the trade of high-value objects from the East.
The Seal is a rather unconventional aircraft: while the sponsons aren't unique (as the Tackling Tern shows), the use of a separate fuselage to hold the tail is a more specific feature of Neo-Hansa seaplanes. This structure provides height to protect the rudders from water spray and lessens the effect of pitch coupling by aligning them with the engines.
Equipped with a relatively weak engine (1200 HP) like most commercial Neo-Hansa boats, Seals are most often seen in the inland trade of the northern Scandinavian Peninsula and the Baltic regions into the no man's land that forms most of former Russia, where the ability to operate in small lakes and rivers is most valued.
