The Nakajima A6M2-N (Navy Type 2 Interceptor/Fighter-Bomber) was a single-crew float seaplane based on the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero Model 11. The Allied reporting name for the aircraft was Rufe.

The A6M2-N was only utilized in defensive actions in the Aleutians and Solomon Islands operations. Such seaplanes were effective in harassing American PT boats at night, and they were very difficult to detect, even with primitive radar. However, the large float and wing pontoons of the A6M2-N degraded its performance by about 20%, enough that the A6M2-N was not usually a match for even the first generation of Allied fighters.

This a fun variant of my A6M2 ‘Zero’. It has great performance but is a little nose tippy when below level-flight cruising speed. When maneuvering, you can catch the propeller in a sweet spot and it will spin on its own! Also, take of and landing can be a bit tricky at first but is easily mastered.

When taking off, accelerate slowly to 100% throttle and hold back on the stick until airborne. And when you want to land, be sure you approach at a very shallow angle, and don't make contact with the surface until you're speed is at least 140MPH or below. Hold back on the stick once contact is made to avoid rolling over.

Enjoy this and the baseline A6M2! And I am open to any recommendations or consults if you need some help/advice!

Same exact one I'm using @Notapier. So if anything, you might just have to turn down the water and land graphics.

@notapier, I build on an iPad too so when I build the larger plane, I'll build it so that it at least run smoothly on a tablet. What generation iPad are you using?

@notapier, I've had a lot of requests lately but I'd love to build an Axis heavy bomber. It just might be a little while.

@dragoncreations Practice makes perfect, my man. Water landings are a difficult maneuver to perform. You don't want to enter completely level and even, you need to keep the nose up slightly to prevent a roll over. And when you've made contact, keep holding the stick back until you've slowed down significantly. And I'm sorry to disagree with you, but I must say this is among my best craft. Thanks for giving her a go, though!

Sweet! The floatplane version too! Even if water landing is tricky, it is still a great plane!:) May I suggest a F-4 Corsair of a F-6 Hellcat as a rival?;) Keep making these awesome planes!

For water landing I entered completely even at 59 mph, and I flipped over for landing. Not you best work...

@jacobhardy64, landing and take off are tricky. You gotta hold the stick back for both. When landing, don't hit the water until you're below 140 MPH. There's a better explanation in the description. Glad you enjoy it!
