(Obviously a ripoff of the A6M in my AU)

Designed in 1938 by the Shirohana Aircraft Division and pressed into service in late 1940, it comprised half of the Naval Air Service's fighter aircraft when the war broke out in late 1941.

With a 1021hp 14 cylinder engine it could push the 3.5 ton aircraft (fully loaded) up to 600km/h. It was armed with two 7.7mm Machine Guns and two 20mm autocannons. It was a light and maneuverable fighter, but was very fragile due to the weight reducing measures taken such as no armor protection and non-self sealing fuel tanks. Gradual replacement of the type began in 1943 to the 7A series, but it's later variants served well into the end of the war in 1945.

This particular model is a mid-1941 variant.
