Another special livery for my SimplePlanes replica of the 1929 Junkers A50 sports plane/trainer/air taxi This one was flown by Finish aviator and Olympic athlete Väinö Bremer who took it from Helsinki to Cape Town and back in 1933. However most importantly fro. 1967 to 2018 , it also served as a display in the departure hall of the Helsinki Vantaa airport And so it probably has been seen by more people than all the other still existing A50's combined.

(Here are some pictures of the plane at Helsinki-Vantaa Currently, it has been moved to a museum while the airport undergoes renovations.)

Flying the A50 is pretty straightforward as she generally handles easy and without vices and retained the original's cruising speed of 100 mph. The only point to watch is the landing. As a taildragger she does not like braking too soon too hard and is prone to digging nose-in.

True to its 1929 origins, the plane has neither flaps nor retractable landing gear nor a canopy you can open. The only special feature is the original's folding wings for easier storage. Missing a helpful ground crew you have to push Activate1 all by yourself and let SimplePlanes do the work.

(I shouldn't have to say this, but still... Only do this AFTER you landed)

Naa,happens that the A-50 is a pretty hard plane to find plans for so when I got them, I also got a dozen different paint schemes, one better than the other... And I couldn't decide. But this five are definitely the only ones I will ever make. I got enough ideas for other planes.

As for the Klemm 25, with the A-50, Junkers actually set out to make a competitor for it by using the 7 years of progress that happened since the first Klemm was built. In the SimplePlanes build you can't really see it but the whole plane is built out of corrugated aluminum having ribs stick out all over. The Klemm is built out of plywood and it's fuselage is so square you can mistake models of it for toys.
