The BF 109 F-1 was a replacement of the Emil series. This upgrade boased a stronger engine and a more streamlined design, but lacked in armament, proper altitude meter, and overall armor. These flaws were removed in later designs and models. Even through these problems, the Bf 109 F-1 was the most superior fighter of it's time, and mian fighter of the Luftwaffe.
