That is a known work around. That's one of the things that makes it difficult, sometimes people do that and copy good designs but nobody really knows.
@TheLatentImage Uhh, i think i found an exploit...... You can easily copy a small plane by taking away the cockpit, then making it a sub-assembly and then adding a new cockpit. I don't know if I am the first to point this out...
