The F-62 was introduced in 1949 to replace the completely outdated Y-7 Redhawk ordered in 1946 after the retirement of the Y-7, the F-62 would serve as a light fighter for about a year before being replaced, it would continue to serve as a light attacker till the mid 1950s.
