INFO:
The Lewis was the first machine gun to be fired from an aeroplane and was used extensively on British and French aircraft in the first world war. It was popular in this role because of its low weight, air cooling system, compact design and its drum magazines that could be easily stowed in a plane.
unfortunrately due to the open-bolt design of the lewis it was impossible to syncronise it with the propeller of an aircraft so on non pusher designs the lewis was either mounted on the top wing or behind the propeller with deflector wedges on the prop to minimize damage from ones own weapon.

ENJOY!
