However, the results of the war greatly exceeded the expectations of the British people: 250 hurricanes were shot down in just 10 days from May 8 to 18, 1940; Nearly 150 more aircraft were lost in the air battle to cover Dunkirk's retreat.The hurricane lost so badly, except that its overall performance was worse than that of BF109 and its quantity was inferior, there were other reasons.In the 20 years from the end of World War I to the beginning of World War II, the basic formation of British fighter planes has always adopted a three aircraft "V" intensive formation: the long aircraft is in front, and the two wingmen are behind the long aircraft on both sides, about 100 meters away from the long aircraft. The British Army believes that such a dense formation covers the largest observation angle and is not easy to lose its formation. In the case of multi aircraft formation, the British army took the three aircraft "V" formation as a unit and formed a "V" shaped brigade in the same way.
