The Snakeater is a light supersonic fighter by Epic Engineering.

Background

With the popularity of the F-5 but the comparatively minor impact of the F-20, Epic Engineering was inspired to create a platform to enter the niche of light air defense fighter, carving out a niche in modern air combat scenarios with current generation avionics while being more compact than even an F-16.

Design

This single-seat fighter maintains proportions similar to the aforementioned F5 while opting for an F-20-style single afterburning jet engine. The wings are a custom design that balances stability with agility.
Armed with a standard rotary gun and 2 Guardian missiles on fuselage hardpoints. A 3rd, larger hardpoint is available for mission-specific additions of munitions and equipment. Overall, both armament and countermeasures are somewhat limited, so use in larger airwings is recommended.

Handling

This is an extremely agile aircraft that can stably withstand high G forces. The climb rate is extraordinary, but the sound barrier can only be broken at altitudes over 1500m when equipped with a payload. On landing, the rear end of the aircraft should touch down with care as the narrow landing gear can cause instability at high landing and taxi speeds.

Instructions

AG1: Open Canopy
AG2: External Lights
AG3: Landing Lights
AG4: Jettison Payload

As always, we encourage aftermarket upgrades and modifications of this aircraft.
