(Kingdom of Yurkur) I-6 “Blender” 3rd Interceptor Squadron

45 Warsforyou  yesterday

During the long arms race between the Kingdom of Yurkur and Peoples’ Republic of Saji, new bomber aircraft were built and used by the PRS. The aircraft then in service with the Yurkur Royal Air Force were not up to the task of hunting and destroying large numbers of dive bombers as well as medium and strategic bombers that would have been used if the war had erupted. And so the XI-12 program was launched, aimed at creating a fast, hard hitting, single-engine fighter plane that could be used for the interception of all PRS bombers. It produced the I-6, powered by the GA-2800R3 radial engine producing 2800hp turning two counter-rotating three bladed propellers. 400 I-6’s were built and they saw service from 1943 to 1951 defending Yurkur from possible invasion during the Sar Sea Incident. Finally retired in 1951 they remain one of the most popular aircraft for warbird enthusiasts from all over the world.

PS you can activate a button near the front of the engine cowling that opens the engine.
