Description
The AS-28 was a development on the design on the largely successful AS-14. It added bulkier main landing gear, better armament, more stability, countermeasures, and a safer design. When the AS-14 would land on carriers, the wings would often strike the ground, causing the low-set aircraft to roll or become damaged. The AS-28 attempted to eliminate the problem, or at least decrease it. Another benefit was the landing gear arrangement, allowing for a shallower angle of attack on landing and a lower risk of stalling.
