The HiT-44M BVRAAM is an advanced air to air missile based on the HiT-42 air to air missile. Compared to the HiT-42, the HiT-44M is a larger missile with greater flight time, longer range and advanced manoeuvrability at greater ranges. It is designed for greater engagement options at longer ranges against both fighters and lumbering aircraft.
The HiT-44M uses an active radar dual-mode seeker which can independently guide itself or be guided by the launch craft or data linked radar systems such as AWACS. It can also be used in Boresight visual mode, like the AIM-120.
