Wikipedia:

The Cessna 188 is a family of agricultural aircraft produced between 1966 and 1983 by Cessna. In the early 1960s, Cessna decided to expand its already broad line of light aircraft by entering the agricultural aircraft market.

They interviewed pilots and operators using other brands of agricultural aircraft to understand what features and capabilities operators were looking for. The aircraft resulting from this research was conventional, single-seat, piston engine and with a low wing.

The Cessna 188 was based heavily on the Cessna 180, with the initial version using the same tailplane in addition to the same 230 hp (170 kW) Continental O-470-R engine.

The 188's structure is predominantly constructed from 2024-T3 aluminum, with the chemical tank constructed from fiberglass.

The fuselage is of semi-monocoque construction and is pressurized in newer models (using dynamic pressure resulting from the aircraft's speed) to reduce chemical ingestion into the structure.
