The F/A-29 is an attack configuration of the F-28. The F/A-29 was purpose built to destroy enemy radar equipment, SAM installations, enemy ground vehicles, and to support friendly ground units with close air support. The aircraft has a limited air-to-air capability until its payload is delivered so combat with other air units should be avoided until then. It also borrowed the fuselage from the F-27 and F/A-27 in order to keep maintenance cost and build processes low.
