The F-77A Darkheart originated from the XF-XX high maneuverability warbird program (HMWP) during the last years of WWII, the XF-77 won the contest, outperforming every aircraft in the program with absolute ease. It featured a rotating lightweight funnell nose that held a 20mm cannon and a V-12 beast of an engine that was capable of accelerating the aircraft to 450kts in level flight. With a time to climb record of 13k feet in 60 seconds, the XF-77 showed promising results as a potential interceptor fighter, capable of taking down tens of bombers in a single mission. With 6 M4 Browning .50 cal machine guns on the wings, and a single 20mm autocannon in the nose, the XF-77 was a beast in the headon. Although the XF-77 didnt become the F-77A until after the war, it still made its claim in many more conflicts through the years, being flown by 1st Luitenant Nebula Darkheart on its most aspiring mission, the aircraft was named after him. To this day, even in the modern era against other warbirds mostly, the F-77A was and still is the most feared warbird in the sky.
