An Ambitious Bomber

During 1932, the Karyan Self Defence fleet submitted a longe-range naval attack that could carry 1.6tons of suspended armament and be relatively maneuverable. The Poyasakai Design Bureau nearly dropped the project as being too ambitious. However, a group of designers persevered and designed a truely long range, carrier based attacker. With a maximum range of 2,000km at 460kmph(285.831mph)/5600m(18372.7ft) with 65%throttle while carrying an 800kg(1600lb) bomb. Not to forget, that it can out turn other heavy fighters and occasionally an interceptor.

Development and History

The development started in mid 1932, the first flight was in early-1934, and mass-produced models rolled off the production lines in mid 1934. Because of an arms deal with the nation of Orninsk. The arms deal involved the purchase of several warships as well as aircraft. The AO models were used as attackers however, their excellent range, high speed and high rate of climb meant that they could be used as interceptors.

Service

The versions that were exported to Orninsk had a weaker but more fuel efficient engine, Because of the more efficient engine, the aircraft could attack enemy shiping that was otherwise safe from older aircraft. After sometime, the Karyan Union offered to sell newer models but only if the Orinskian Planes participated in the Karyan Carrier Fleet during the first phase of the modern crusades. The Orninskians agreed to this as they were being targeted by the Baphometian Union.

Variant AO1/A1

The model has the ability to carry a large selection of suspended armaments, and is armed with twin 7.7mm MGs or twin 20mm cannons. It has folding wings and an arrestor hook for carrier landings. It has 2 crew members, a pilot and a navigator. It lacks self-sealing fuel tanks, and the armor can be described as one pilot as "one ambitious sheet of paper.". The engines are relatively vulnerable to enemy fire. Getting hit is not an option, that is why the maneuverability comes in.
