Desert Variant

Background

The M1220 Amphibious High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle is a light, four-wheel drive, military utility vehicle produced by Rostov. It has largely replaced the roles previously performed by the original Humvee of the Federation. Primarily used by the Federation military, it is also used by many allied countries and organizations along with civilian adaptations. The AHMMWV originally was designed to primarily perform personnel and light cargo transport behind front lines, not as a front line fighting vehicle. Unlike its predecessor, the standard AHMMWV is protected against chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear threats. AHMMWV provides crews with protection against intense small arms fire but offers much less against machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades. With the growing appearance of asymmetric warfare and low intensity conflicts, the AHMMWV was put into urban combat roles.
