Hahaha F-word fighter jet 😭

Overview:

The F-CK-1 Ching-Kuo, better known as IDF - Indigenous Defense Fighter, was product of ingenuity versus political isolation:
In the late 70's and early 80's, Taiwan needed to replace it's old F-5 and F-104s. However, under the pressure of China, United States under the Jimmy Carter administration and after Ronald Reagan, refused to sell them the F-16 or F-20 Tigershark. Given the impossibility of buying modern aircraft, Taiwan decided to make it's own under the name of Project An-Hsiang. Even if the USA did not sell the full airplane, they allowed private companies to aid in the project:

General Dynamics helped in the design of the fuselage, which is why it looks like the product of an adventure between the F-16 and F-18

Garett (Honeywell) developed the TFE1042 engines

Westinghouse collaborated in the making of the radar

The result was the Ching-Kuo: a twin-engine, light fighter jet optimized for the defense of the island, which also was given the curse of having a highly memeable OFFICIAL codename
